Charging characteristic:
- Soft start (stage 1): Initial battery test to determine battery condition. If the battery is severely discharged, charger will begin the soft start stage. Charging starts with reduced current until battery voltage reaches 10 V.
- Bulk (stage 2): Major charging stage where the battery receives the majority of its charge. During this stage the battery is brought to 60-80 % of its charge. The charger delivers maximum current until the terminal voltage has risen to the set level of 14,2 V for normal batteries, 14,0 V for gel batteries and 14,4 V for deep-cycle batteries.
- Absorption (stage 3): Completes the charge up to virtually 100 % at a constant voltage. The current tapers off after the current has reached the minimum level.
- Boost (stage 4): An extra charging process for deep-cycle batteries. As deep-cycle batteries can’t be fully charged by a low charging voltage, they need an extra high charge voltage to top up the final stage. This process is mainly meant for topping up the battery level. After that it will go to Pulse-charge which is a maintenance charge.
- Pulse (stage 5): Maintenance charge for maximum battery life; maintains the battery at 80-100 % capacity. The battery receives a pulse, starting a new charge cycle, when voltage drops to the set limit. This keeps the battery in perfect condition when it is not in use. The charger can be connected for months keeping the battery fully charged.
